SUSAN DeFACE WASHINGTON, Conference Speaker – R.E.A.L. Women of God OVERCOME

From all outward appearances, growing up, Susan was just your typical girl next door – born into a middle class family, the youngest of three children and a cheerleader; however, looks were deceiving. Behind closed doors, Susan and her family endured heartbreaking tragedies and crippling addictions that devastated and almost destroyed them. Susan, alone, survived.

Struggling with the demons of her dysfunctional childhood, Susan turned to drugs where her addiction eventually led to the manufacturing and selling of methamphetamines.  Susan’s story will take you from her years as a cheerleader to being a convicted felon serving time and working on a prison pig farm.

Drug use has cost Susan many things, including time with her children, and her credentials as a Texas Educator. But, as funny as it sounds, it has also given her some gifts, like the realization that her sobriety is vital to her life and her belief in God is vital to her sobriety.

Susan has been married to Warner Washington for 31 years and they are the parents of three and grandparents of five.
